LWRA President’s Message – Week of 11/06/23

Greetings,

I hope you all had a great weekend and enjoyed a little break form the heat.  I was in Metter, Ga. for the weekend enjoying the 42 morning and the 60- low 70 afternoons.  I did set up my G90, using a dipole hamstick at low height checked into the South Cars net with Glenn WB4KW as Net Control. A great thrill for me to use my $138.28 to ride the big BLUE Buss. If you are not signed up for South Cars check the out 7.251MHz daily from 8AM until 1PM EST. https://southcars.com South Cars Tailgate in Lakeland November 18th 2023 9AM until app 11:30  go by and check them out Golden Coral US 98 1 mile north of I4.

The meeting for November will be this Thursday.  We will be excepting nominations for officers and Board Member at Large.  Please review the By Laws for specifics regarding the officers and nominations.  We are a growing vibrant club that has many folks admiring what we all are accomplishing in HAM radio. But there is ALWAYS more that can be done.

There will be a program so please come out and support your LWRA.  We meet at 7PM Thursday at the Lake Wales Fire Station #1 253 West Central Ave.  www.LWRA.US for additional information.

I will send the ZOOM link for the meeting on Thursday. Sorry for the two emails.

Don’t forget the NET for this week. We will be on the 442.425MHz machine 127.3 CTCSS (TX and RX due to Fusion) 7:30 PM the NC will NI4S Rick. So join him for the NET and Round Table to follow.  If you have never checked into the net it is simple. Call NET Control when directed for check-ins. Give your call sign slowly using the proper phonetic alphabet. Your name and location. Wait to be acknowledged by the NET Control operator and you in. It’s that easy.

It is November so we will NOT have a regular QRP due to the Thanksgiving weekend. We WILL have a work day at the Dundee Water UHF site. We need to make a few minor repairs to the building, clear it up a little and  mount the radios into a rack for easier service.  We will announce more as we get closer to the Nov 30th date.

We will have a for December; more to come about that in the weeks to come. After all Santa may bring you a new radio to try out!

Thanks for being an active and supportive club to the amateur community!

I’ll ‘see ya on the air’
