The following information was released today by John Thacker KU8Q, the lead examiner for the Lake Wales Radio Amateurs VE team:
“The LWRA VE Team will be back in action, beginning July 3, at 9:00 a.m. at our original site, the Red Cross Building, 147 Avenue A, N.W., in downtown Winter Haven. No mask requirement for those who have been fully vaccinated for Covid 19. All others will be required to wear a mask and social distance while in the building. This is totally on the honor system. As always, testing is FREE and available to anyone wishing to obtain the entry level Technician license, or those wishing to upgrade their current license class. Those having an expired amateur license in the past, may renew at their former level by simply taking the Technician test with proof of their former callsign.
If you know someone wanting to test, please let them know we are ready for them. All applicants must submit the test reservation form, available on the LWRA.US website. Walk-ins are not accepted since the team doesn’t go to the testing site unless we have reservations for that day. We will test EVERY FIRST SATURDAY of each month. Test FREE on Saturday, you’ll have your FCC callsign or upgrade on the following Monday morning.
Now is the time to take that test, before the Government mandated $35 licensing fee goes into effect and slows the process.
