Good Tuesday in the LWRA! I would like to welcome new members to this message and to the Lake Wales Club. Thanks to all you attended the meeting this past week. We had 32 either in person and or on Google Meets. Dan and I pitched the test of a 220MHz repeater (currently experimental) in the next few weeks on the Haines City GMRS site. We will keep you updated on the progress.
The ‘Helping Hams’ registration is missing a very important component. We have yet to have a request for assistance. If you need a project other than tower work send a request to me via this email address and we can see if we have the talent to accommodate. You can send it to jml610@comcast.net also you can let me know if you are interested in the help teams as well.
I am back from the Special Olympics State. I say that to let you know HAMs are everywhere. I had a volunteer on my BOCCE court from Colorado. I asked how he found SO while on a trip. He is already familiar and volunteers all over the country when he travels. Here is the kicker; I ask what he did requiring him to travel. He is one of the chief investigators for the Space Force Criminal Investigations (NCIS sort of in the Space Force). He said “I’m sort of a space nerd so it just fit… I said I was sort of a HAM nerd; he informed me that he was a third generation HAM and understood. I say this to encourage conversation with folks as you vacation or especially locally. There is HAMs everywhere, engage, encourage and invite.
We will enjoy the net tonight on the UHF machine. KB4FHP will be the net operator . We will need all the help we can get on the LWRA UHF machine 442.425Mhz +5MHz offset with 127.3 on both tx and rx. This is a dual mode repeater for AMS Fusion. The net is conducted in the analog mode starting at 730PM followed by the ‘round table’ the LWRA repeater.
The Question will be “what do you travel with for vacation or trips as a HAM radio”
QRP- Helping Hams We are still looking for projects and volunteers. Send me your request to jml610@comcast.net volunteer or project. May 30, 2026, 9-12 or so.
We still net a few net controllers for our GMRS associated nets. Third or fourth week on Bartow and W5DBH’s repeater in Haines City.
Dan’s W5DBH Haines City Net on Fridays 462.55 127.3 he needs subs and controllers for his 7 PM Friday net.
I need a third- or fourth-week controller for the Polk GMRS net for Tuesday at 7PM each week. 462.725 141.3. Also, standby subs for all three nets would be great. Let me know about any 863-412-2467
Thanks, Russ, for the celestial updates. Great net reminders on SIGNAL each day… a wonderful tool!
