LWRA President’s Message – Week of 3/25/24

Good HAM morning!

I had the opportunity to just get away so I’m enjoying cooool weather, mid 30’s yesterday and today VERY windy 25-40. Why did I tell you that?  NO HAM radio here to speak of. So, I get no important weather or other updates that I have come to rely on.  Be thankful for what we have…. it’s not as commonplace as you may think.

A big THANKS for the QRP folks they had 25 and several contacts on the multiple station set up at the park.  The video is available on SIGNAL and soon to be on the web site.  Our team also were ambassadors… some folks came over from an adjacent area at the park, and one potential new ham, drove out just to see what Ham radio was all about. Again, living up to our motto,,, education and comradery!

Polk GMRS net on the POLK GMRS repeater (1900 EDT – Webmaster).  462.725MHz with 141.3 as the Tone Squelch. This week’s net controller will be Allen KI4MOX (ham call sign) This net has been very well attended and has really sparked interest from both Ham/GMRS and GMRS only license holders.  We will start a few changes, due to the number of check-ins, in a few weeks.  I am looking for net controllers and alternate net controllers for this net. If you are interested PLEASE let me know.

April is approaching and we have a business meeting with a short program that may be of interest to you. More to come in next week’s Monday Message.

The QRP group is planning a pretty cool QRP and Tail Gate Tech that will be a lot of fun! More to come on that.

And this… Russ has created a great graphic for the LWRA 50th anniversary year.  I am soliciting the cost for a commemorative T shirt and or polo from our vendor and will have information at the meeting to take orders.

Don’t forget K4GHB Monday Message on WINLINK.

Great group to be associated with that’s for sure!
