LWRA President’s Message – Week of 3/04/24

Greetings,

Here we are in March 2024, I am amazed at the warp speed time flies these days.  Monday Message for March 4th, 2024,

Here are a few things NOT to forget this week!

Monday is Message Monday for the Polk ARES Win Link communications systems. If you need more information Gary K4GHB (our very capable treasurer) coordinates this valuable form of emergency communications.  You can find out more by checking into the www.polkares.org/winlink section. A complete ‘how to’ is located there. If you have trouble, contact W4GHB for additional information.

The theme rolls right along here… Gary will be our speaker for the LWRA club meeting this month, He will expand on the WINLINK concept by giving us information on the HF application for using WINLINK.  Club Meeting the second Thursday of the month (03/14/23) at 7PM LWFD. A Zoom meeting will also be included using the zoom link below. We will also attempt a new way to connect further information in a separate email will be posted the week of the meeting.  Join us for this informative meeting.

To keep the ball rolling our QRP team has announced the QRP for this month. We will be east of Lake Wales where we will have a HF station set up for WINLINK HF. That will be the tail gate tech portion of the QRP event.  This park is a little out of the way, however, it is a beautiful spot and gives us the opportunity to explore a new location, meet fellow HAMS and enjoy some HAM radio. www.lwra.us/qrp for more information

Please, if you are dual licensed join us to establish tis communications medium to facilitate communications during EOC activations. This is a training net to set procedure to communications into the EOC. The county has installed a GMRS radio into the Ham station area that will be operated by dual licensed operators. Thank You in advance for supporting this effort. Our club has GREATLY benefited from our membership through GMRS operators becoming involved in HAM radio.

Don’t forget!

We are again partnering with the Lakeland Club to be a more active part in the annual Field Day event this year.  We will take a more active role this year to assist this great club in working this event again this year. It is a 24 operation, so we NEED OPERATORS to sign up.  It is always the last full weekend in June. N4RTD will give us more information at the meeting this month for us to sign up.

I know there are things I am missing, You can go to the  WCF ARRL web site for additional information about ham fest and other events upcoming.

Thanks for being a great supportive and motivated club!

I hope to ‘see ya on the air’!
