LWRA Ham Bytes – Week of 12/01/25

Good day LWRA!

I know you all had a great Thanksgiving week; I heard several of you on various repeaters. Some went hunting, fishing, camping and still somehow was still radioactive. Other cooked and or put up decorations, and still stayed radioactive, one of you bobbed up and down as you crossed the ocean and still managed to remain radioactive in getting our newer hams through the license process. What a great bunch to hang out with! If you have never played radio with these guys, you are missing a treat! The next few weeks are always busy with company or social group seasonal parties. Please remember that the folks who are visiting our area are here for the same reasons. I have talked to three this weekend on the air. Jumping in makes them feel at home, I know they will appreciate it, no matter what repeater or mode. They are part of the HAM community so make them welcome when you hear them. I also have been told twice that folks have called out, and no one answers several times a day.

A great time to make new friends is on the radio. Enough of the soap box, lets get down to the message.

I would like to thank Gary K4GHB for a great net last week! We learned that everyone that checked in is NORMAL except KU8Q. Most had pecan or other pies and or cakes as their desert. No not John, he likes minced meat pie. Just sayin’! However, the repeater killer, John W4JFS, himself back from the Ocala National Forest for this weeks net so buckle up for another great net on the 442.425 LWRA repeater.

As far the weeklong ‘Flavor of the Week’, The FLAVOR of the Week will be (digital) Dstar (Bartow) 444.4875 on; the analog ‘topping’ will be the ‘375’ This repeater is available on either analog with 127.3 TX and RX. 147 375MHz. It is located, very well elevated, in the highlands between Bartow and Lakeland. This repeater has a single site footprint greater than the county boundaries. Great coverage! Thanks John!

December meeting will be a get together at LWFD station with treats and coffee, more to come on that in the next few days so look for additional Bytes in the week.

Thanks, Russ, for the celestial updates. Great net reminders on SIGNAL each day… a wonderful tool!

Don’t forget use LWRA Signal Club & Swap group to find or create great deals on this medium. One average item only stays active for a few days before they are sold. If you are looking for something just announce what you are looking for and we can probably round it up amongst our members,

Several items have been listed in the last few days and lasted mere minutes.

If you are NOT on SIGNAL and want info email me jml610@comcast.net
