What a wonderful week! As some of you know the LWRA well represented the community at the memorial service for the MIA vet in Lake Wales. We had 10 folks come out to pay honor to this soldier. Some of us lined the entrance with flags in hand, tears in eye and a proud and grateful heart as the procession passed. Some stayed and observed the honor of Silver Star, Clustered Purple Heart, other medals as well as full military honors. Thank you for all who assisted.
Then we had 24 folks brave the weather and come to our QRP at Lake Shipp. The atmosphere was a little different with all-in-one area, we had up to, at one time, 8 stations operating, new antennas that we normally have not seen. We also had some great trouble shooting lessons for one station.
Because we are on the radio more, thanks to John (W4JFS) & Russ’ (N4RTD) suggestion of the ‘Flavor of the week’. A couple came who have radios and listen to us a lot, who are working on attaining their HAM Lic. (BTY another ‘catch’ from the GMRS world) and W4JFS Polk Schools Radio Society member student Andrew who is excited about working on getting his license as well. Great time to welcome the folks into the friendly confines of amateur radio. Thanks to the QRP crew and the ‘Big Dogs” for their work on this.
As far as next month’s (June) QRP stand by for updates, maybe in the middle of this week regarding that.
