LWRA Ham Bytes – Week of 3/31/25

Good morning!

What a great turnout for our QRP! The team as always planned and pulled off a fun and informative time. The 27 folks came out, some checked in while at the MS Bike tour. Look for announcements about our April QRP in a few days. Thanks to Tommy for his “TOP CAT CULINARY DELIGHTS” and those who brought fixins, and food to fix. A great time!

As we approach a busy time of the year, last minute tax filings, getting spring projects, yard work and spring cleaning. Final Four, start of MLB Baseball (20 runs in opening day game with 9 home runs), SUN N FUN, sounds like a very interesting season. As we come into the spring, HAM radio is active as well. Special Event Station at SNF again this year with several of our members operating this week. We have springtime propagation mysteries as well as a new threat of spectrum auctions. Please pay close attention and be prepared to call or write letters if the ARRL indicates the need.

Hopefully, I have the link correct this week.

If you missed it Russ sent information regarding the FCC and news about HAM radio. If you did not see it here’s the link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2g8HMhCRDZA

Our meeting will be the second Thursday at LWFD. I have a very interesting program regarding cybercrime, scams and how easy it is to fall into a dangerous trap. I know we all think we are smarter than the average bear, however, they are using EVERY tool in the box to get you information, credit history and MONEY! A friend of mine within the last six months, a highly educated influential member of the community, lost 20,000 during one recent encounter. So come out and learn about the latest scams and how to protect yourself and your assets.
