LWRA QSO – Week of 9/16/24

Monday LWRA Wire
Monday 9/16/24

Good Monday Morning,

First thanks to Dan, Russ and Dave for coming to my rescue at the LWRA meeting last Thursday. It is great to have a vibrant working step up to the task group. I am thankful! I unexpectedly had to go to the Clearwater St Pete airport about meeting time.  A couple of things.  Today is Monday Messge on WINLINK if you feel so inclined and can check into Gary’s Monday Message.  Also, As we rapidly approach “ HAM’n Beans’ in October our meal theme has slightly changed, The ‘ Big Dogs on the Porch” would like to be a part of the lunch. So, we are going to call it “HAM’n Beans and Buns” We need several volunteers to help with the fixings. Send me an email with your entry to the lunch.  I am going to use this email for thiskn4itq@comcast.net  Here are the categories.  Bean dishes, chips, ice, drinks, plastic ware, cups, desserts. I will bring “Hot Dog Sauce” which is my chili converted for hot dog application.

For those who have never been to one of the QRP or HAM’n Beans here it is what we do. In October we have a QRP that is family oriented. Bring the family! Let them see what we do at the QRP’s, even get them to play a little radio with us, then around 1145 we commence with a family style lunch. A covered dish type lunch and fellowship, getting to know our families. It will be at Simmers- Young Park on the last Saturday of the month in October; from 9- whenever.  More to come on that.

A reminder we are approaching November as well with Nominations for officers at that meeting. So please give that some consideration.

This week I will be doing the LWRA Net, and we will have a little fun again this week. We will be on the google meets link with our net on video.  Watch and join in from wherever you can. I’ll fire it up about five minutes before the LWRA net.  So I look forward to to really seeing you on the air this week: https://meet.google.com/mhb-ukfz-upi

Keep your eye on the tropics, ear to the airwaves as we are in the peak of storm season!  Stay vigilant and prepared, in other words do not let your guard down and eat all of your Vienna sausages before the season ends.

QRP Committee wasted no time in the September QRP set up. We are going to have a regular non-themed QRP, so bring your QRP station, your VHF/UHF or digital station to the QRP. We will be in the Lake Ship Park in Winter Haven for a day of fun learning and just in case you get hungry, “Big Dogs on the Porch will have a few things to eat. Bring your own drinks, it is still warm weather in Florida.  More information can be found on the www.lwra.us/qrp web site. Even if you do not set up, come out and visit, observe, ask questions, eat…. You get the picture 9-12 on September 28th, 2024.

NET INFORMATION this will soon be on the webpage for easy pull-down access. Thanks to KT4WX
