LWRA Ham Bytes – Week of 2/09/26

Good morning LWRA!

It is February Meeting Week! This month will be our classroom meeting, devoting the majority of the meeting time to the meeting topic. Well, here is the topic. Apparently, this was done several years ago, with great success! Dan W5DBH has resurrected this, and we are doing ‘Show and Tell”. I know some are saying “what” I did that when I was a kid. Well, this has a twist. Bring your new project completed, underway or dream project. Tell us what is going on in your HAM world that you need advice on, brag on or just tell us what you are up to. We are a VERY diverse group when it comes to radio. Some are projects folks building and testing; some are just finding out one way or another that a simple fix made you station a powerhouse. Some just received new radios that are amazing. Tell us all about it even if you have to show pictures. If you can put those on a thumb drive, we can show them to all.

If you are joking us via Google Meets, you can join in the fun as well. We will have a monitor set up so everyone can see the item you are sending us.

You can use the link previously provided or it will be sent with a meeting reminder on Thursday
Get your wish list; it is close to HAMCATION! THIS WEEKEND! JUST A REMINDER FOR YOUR ONE-TRACK MIND (Like mine) SATURDAY IS VALENTINES DAY! Don’t forget your support person that encourages your HAM Habit on Saturday, Hey! Take her(him) to HAMCATION, and they have good food there. Looks like a solution for that hard to buy for spouses.

The ’Flavor of the Week’ will be DMR on the W4VCO repeaters. We will use the Polk Schools TG 3195162, which can be accessed via the BM network if you are not in the area. The ‘topping’ will be the Polk County EM network (PEM) using one of the four linked repeaters best serving you. This is also accessible from far away on ECHO LINK.

Please use these and our other repeaters. As was stated by the Emergency Manager for Polk County earlier this year, push PTT; if we don’t use we lose them.’

NET TUESDAY!

The net will be on the UHF repeater with John KU8Q as net control. Join us on the net for practice and testing your equipment.

A note: I think we set a record last week on the round table net going for almost an hour. And…. W4JFS did not burn up the repeater!

We need a list of substitute net controllers. Email KB4FHPLWRA@PROTON.ME IF INTERESTED. I still need the last Tuesday NC for February GMRS net. I will be out of town. I have adjusted my travel and will be able to do the third Tuesdays nets.

We still net a few net controllers for our GMRS associated nets.

Dan’s W5DBH Haines City Net on Fridays 462.55 127.3 he needs subs and controllers for his 7 PM Friday net.
I need a third- or fourth-week controller for the Polk GMRS net for Tuesday at 7PM each week. 462.725 141.3. Also, standby subs for all three nets would be great. Let me know about any 863-412-2467

Thanks, Russ, for the celestial updates. Great net reminders on SIGNAL each day… a wonderful tool!
Net information on the next page

Don’t forget use LWRA Signal Club & Swap group to find or create great deals on this medium. One average item only stays active for a few days before they are sold.

Several items have been listed in the last few days and lasted mere minutes.

Several items are still available on SIGNAL if interested.

If you are NOT on SIGNAL and want info email me jml610@comcast.net
