Good day LWRA!
Here we are in the midst of one of the coolest days of the year! Enjoy the cooler weather, it is much deserved after a HOT summer.
The Simply QRP was a huge success! Thanks to all who took part in the event. A great turnout with at least eight stations set up and operating. As you will see in Russ’ video (soon to be linked on the web site) even our GMRS members were well represented and set up a great station, Thanks Chris. Good fellowship with friends and ‘Big Dogs on the Porch’ for lunch. We will work out details for the next QRP and then us rescheduled Ham n Beans in January.
The LWRA regular meeting will be on Thursday with this being our officers’ nominations. Please carefully consider the future of our club. The nominee must be present to accept the nomination for office. The meeting will be on Google Meets and a reminder will be sent on Thursday. The program will be “Where did that come from?” a hopefully fun look at where some of the things we use in our hobby originated. From Ham or somewhere else? We will explore.
A moment to express gratitude to those of you who served in the Armed Forces or Merchant Marines. Your willingness to protect and preserve the freedom we currently and prayerfully enjoy in the future are eternally appreciated. These have come at a great cost of life and injury. World War I, The Great War is the foundation of Veteran’s Day in the US accompanied by Remembrance Day and Armistice Day in Canada and the alliance countries. It now recognizes All who have served in US services. I for one take every opportunity to thank each who proudly display their branch when possible. Many in our club are vets, some from conflicts ranging from WWII to recent current service, Thank You to each!
This week “Flavor of the week is DMR (tg Polk Schools 3195162 TS2) available on W4VCO DMR repeaters as well as Branmeister is using a hotspot. The Topping will be the LARC 2M machine 146.685MHz 127.3 TX and RX. Note this repeater is also on the Echo link if you are out of range. The purpose of these Flavors and Toppings is to encourage use of the vast number of repeaters we have available to us. A great opportunity to test them out.
Don’t forget the nets: We need ya! The net controller this is KU8Q. Always a great net 730 TUESDAY, if you can check in, please do, if not let us know that you ‘would if you could’ on SIGNAL. The net time is 730 on the K4LKW UHF repeater. Look for the announcement on the net for the round table to follow.
Thanks, Russ, for the celestial updates. Great net reminders on SIGNAL each day, a wonderful tool!
