LWRA Ham Bytes – Week of 10/20/25

Good day LWRA!

Good morning for October 20th.

I know we may soon, if not already, have a few of our winter visitors back! We look forward to these folks coming back each year. As is with every year newbies from up north come to our area either to visit or seek out their winter domiciles. As new hams come to the area you may hear a call sign reach out that is unfamiliar. Here’s YOUR chance. Greet these Hams with a friendly QSO to let them know about the area, the repeaters and most importantly about the LWRA. We have so many opportunities to greet these folks and help them find their way, to just about everything. Good eats, Dr’s., shopping sites, and the Greatest Club on the Ridge! (THAT WOULD BE LWRA)

Anyway, you get the picture. I’ve heard a few call signs throwing out in the last few days. As a reminder, we are a family-oriented organization. The schools and some of our youth and children play radio with us( if they just monitor), we are cognizant of language on our club repeaters. Please refrain from colorful language on LWRA repeaters please. Also, if you did not or have not set a ‘time out timer’ on your radio please be prudent and do so, we recommend no longer than 90 seconds if possible. If you do not know how to do this contact me, please.
It is a great opportunity to announce the latest gem of camaraderie, John W4JFS and Russ N4RTD have revived out ‘ Flavor’ of the day and ‘Topping’ to ‘FLAVOR AND TOPPING OF THE WEEK’ with this we both exercise and encourage use of one of the many repeaters in the county, along with one of the Digital repeaters in the county now for a week at a time M-F. Yes, you can sue your favorite, but venture out and check out some of the others as well

So many have commented that they missed the Flavor concept we brought back early with a twist. If folks are not on SIGNAL* or may not get this email; we will have the information on LWRA web site for the guide. Anyway, I hope you have a great week stay RADIOACTIVE.

Update! We are VERY close to reestablishing the Echo Link and adding All Star to the VHF repeater, hopefully in a few weeks. Stay tuned! Thanks to some diligent folks we may have it resolved this week.

Don’t forget the nets: We need ya! The net controller this Tuesday our 3rd week net control operator in the Col. J. Michael himself (KB4FHP). Always a great net 730 TUESDAY, if you can check in, please do, if not let us know that you ‘would if you could’ on SIGNAL. The net time is 730 on the K4LKW UHF repeater. Look for the announcement on the net for the round table to follow.
