Monday LWRA “HAM BYTES”
Greetings, as the Josh Turner song says,’ gone a be a hot one, cause I heard it on the radio…’ I had a discussion with a new Floridian at an event this weekend, he said this is hotter than he expected. Well, it is hot, and interesting that May is usually one of the hotter months preceding that nasty ole hurricane season. It is not relieved by afternoon showers, so it gets pretty HOT!
Russ and others from the area are back from the Dayton Hamvention with treasures acquired from the trip with more than they left with. I know everyone that went had a great time.
Get your preps done for the rainy season, make sure your stations are prepared for wet afternoons (coax connections sealed and the like), and get your go kits ready, and just as important! Check generators, get your gas rotated, charge your batteries and get your hurricane supplies ready now before you have to hunt for them!
We may do something for a couple of hams on another weekend this month; other than QRP, so look for the messages if you want to help. Not an all-day thing just a couple of hours.
Our upcoming end of the month QRP will be at Lake Shipp Park with the topical focus on POTA (Parks on The Air) a great venue in the hobby for HF, using many modes like FT8, FT4, Phone and CW. A lot of fun. Our focus will be to let you see how to HUNT, we cannot activate that park due to rules. What you need to listen for and what you need to say. We will also show you how to see ‘spot’ listings on the POTA site and much much more. If you want to set up, you station for HF for regular radio play… please come join us. May 31st at Lake Shipp Park in Winter Haven.
Don’t forget the nets: We need ya!
