LWRA Ham Bytes – Week of 11/04/24

Monday LWRA “HAM BYTES”

Here we are in the sneaking in of fall… I know I can hear the belly laughs; we have no fall. Ironically, we do as it’s been said we have four seasons in Florida. They are just a little hard to recognize sometimes, then again sometimes not. Huning season, Vacation season, Tax season and of course Hurricane season (and with the last one our leaves change). With that being said, hurricane season is still active keep vigilant and an eye to the tropics for storms. We have a couple brewing so be aware

Finally, the election season is waning and that high dollar ads will be replaced with more ads for Medicare supplements and new prescription drugs. Well almost all elections are over.

Don’t forget the meeting this month. November is NOMINATIONS. Carefully consider whom you would like to be, your 2025 officers, and nominate them at the meeting. It is very important in the life of this club. Elections end at the meeting and we vote in the officers in December at the meeting.

The meeting will be the second Thursday of the month at Lake Wales Fire Station 1. 253 West Central Avenue in Lake Wales. We will have a Google Meets link below for the meeting. The link will activate approximately 5-10 minutes prior to the meeting at 7PM. If you have not used the link before all you have to do is click on it will connect you to us. We will have a short but informative program that will be of interest.

For new club members please be advised we will have elections in December and nominations in November. We still will have some type of program and certainly will be available to help with questions you may have regarding the club, activities and assistance with your radio gear.

And finally, QRP November. This November we will do something a little different. The return of our November ‘Helping Hams’ will be our goal. Now, this is also a place to learn to explore and meet new folks. We have four Hams that need a little attention to their antennas. We will actually have a signup sheet to divide up the locations. They are all relatively close to each other, so we are trying to figure out a lunch meet or maybe breakfast. More information to come! Please check out the sign-up sheet so we can have an idea of how to divide up the crew. NONE OF THIS IS STRENUOUS just a task that one person cannot do or in some cases physically cannot do it alone.

Even if you have no idea how to assist THIS IS AN ON-HAND LEARNING you will gain two, no three things if you come to helping hands. 1) learning something 2) comradery 3) development of friendships.

I will send the locations and schedules as we get closer to Helping Ham on the last Saturday of the month from 9-12.
