LWRA Ham Bytes – Week of 1/19/26

Great Day in the LWRA!

I have several things this Monday. So, let’s get started.

First, I would like to thank the folks who assisted me with links, contacts, numbers and suggestions on how to remedy the LWRA W4LKW radio license. IT IS RENEWED! The issue was FRN numbers and passwords. We were able with the FREE assistance of the ARRL maneuvered through and had it completed. Another benefit of being an ARRL affiliated club. This should serve as a friendly reminder. Check your FRN log in and assure your password works. Be attentive to your renewal date and get your renewal done as earlier as permissible.

Get your wish list it is close to HAMCATION!

One last thing, HAM N BEANS, is the 31st. The club will provide the meat; we need sides. A sign-up will be posted this Friday for sides dishes, drinks and desserts. It will go out on email as well as Signal for those not connected. We will be a Simmers Young in Winter Haven Auburndale area for a great QRP and get together.
Winter Field Day. This weekend is the ‘WINTER FIELD DAY’. While we do not typically have a set up for the event, a couple of local club members do. Tom Anderson sent this email out to invite local Hams to participate.

“Ron (W4ORH) and I will be participating in Winter Field Day in the pavilion at Lake Ashton again this year. We were late last year notifying you so that the club members were aware if they wanted to stop by. I hope this notification is soon enough to allow that this year.

I think we are going to be multi operator and multi transmitters on battery power operating on HF. (SSB, CW, Digital) and UHF/VHF

Visitors will be welcome to operate our equipment. Club members could even offer to sit in for a period if they want to participate in the event.

Thanks,
Tom Anderson

You can certainly contact him for additional information regarding the Winter Field Day both are good on QRZ.

The ’Flavor of the Week’ will be NXDN on W4CLL Highland City repeater 442.025; NXDN radio required and the K4LKW UHF repeater in Dundee 442.425 (127.3) as well as C4FM will be the ‘topping’ this week.
Please use these and our other repeaters. As was stated by the Emergency Manager for Polk County earlier this month ‘push PTT; if we don’t use the we lose them.

NET TUESDAY!

The net will be on the UHF repeater with KB4FHP as net control. I will have a question for the round table immediately following the regular net on the same repeater.

We need a list of substitute net controllers. Email KB4FHPLWRA@PROTON.ME IF INTERESTED.

We still net a few net controllers for our GMRS associated nets.

Dan’s W5DBH Haines City Net on Fridays 462.55 127.3 he needs subs and controllers for his 7 PM Friday net.
I need a third- or fourth-week controller for the Polk GMRS net for Tuesday at 7PM each week. 462.725 141.3. Also, standby subs for all three nets would be great. Let me know about any 863-412-2467

Thanks, Russ, for the celestial updates. Great net reminders on SIGNAL each day… a wonderful tool!

Net information on the next page

Don’t forget use LWRA Signal Club & Swap group to find or create great deals on this medium. One average item only stays active for a few days before they are sold.

Several items have been listed in the last few days and lasted mere minutes.

Several items are still available on SIGNAL if interested.

If you are NOT on SIGNAL and want info email me jml610@comcast.net
