Great day in the LWRA!
Good morning! ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY buy the ‘HAM’n Beans 2024’ what a wonderful time to play radio, fellowship, and eat!
Here’s the breakdown if you missed. We have 40 people at sight, two or three check in on the HF radios that were set up. Great learning and time to help out three new hams or guest with radio issues, answer questions and programming. Great fellowship with some of our great Elmers and friends. When I attended my first QRP at Crystal Lake Park some eight -nine years ago I met Glen, Howard, Jack, Ryan, Mike G, Carl, Bear and Rick. I did NOT understand a word they were saying about radio… here I am today with all but a couple of these folks at this QRP; and still do not understand a word they are saying about radio, lol. However, I perceive so much more because of them and others like them, for which I’m grateful. This club has now cultivated so many more Ellmers that we are now a sought-after information club. All I can say is Thank You to those who provided, (what a cake) food, cooking, sides, accessories, monies, time, and devotion to making this our QRP premiere e v e n t! (bad word for parks)
As we approach this week, PLEASE be mindful of the tropics! We are not out of the woods yet regarding storms. In light of this please exercise your right to VOTE early if you are so inclined. Use this site to locate a polling place. If a storm impact election you will be already done.
Don’t forget the meeting this month. November is NOMINATIONS. Carefully consider whom you would like to be, your 2025 officers, and nominate them at the meeting.
For new club members please be advised we will have elections in December and nominations in November. We still will have some type of program and certainly will be available to help with questions you may have regarding the club, activities and assistance with your radio gear.
And finally, QRP November. This November we will do something a little different. The return of our November ‘Helping Hams’ will be our goal. Now, this is also a place to learn to explore and meet new folks. We have four Hams that need a little attention to their antennas. We will actually have a signup sheet to divide up the locations. They are all relatively close to each other, so we are trying to figure out a lunch meet or maybe breakfast. More information to come!
