LWRA QSO – Week of 9/02/24

Good morning on this Labor Day 2024,

While we all have different memories and even maybe traditions to recognize Labor Day in the US, it is one thing for certain. It is a day to relax, maybe BBQ, grill a steak, get caught up on those yard details, honey dos done. It may be the ‘end of the summer (only for those not necessarily in the Florida sun or Tropical areas that can still be of threat.) Back to the thought, an opportunity to play radio or program some radios, etc., you get the picture… Anyway, I’m sure I will do some of those. But before I do I try to remember the ingenuity, dedication, prowess and resolve that AMERICAN workers have done and continue to do. While we take for granted how difficult somethings are to acquire, build, repair, design upkeep, teach, heal, console, create, deliver, distribute, dispose of, organize, sell, update and so on… The AMERICA I love can do it all and do it well! It takes LABOR in almost every aspect of what we enjoy, consume, drive on, fly in, read from … well you get the idea. Enjoy the day but take a moment to say thanks to those who LABOR in what every that may be…

Just a THANKS to the 30 folks who came to our QRP this weekend. We had folks stop by to check us out and are excited about learning more about this great hobby. Some had great experience in learning more about and practicing APRS. We had 10 APRS messages and several folks using APRS for the first time.  The BIG DOGS on the Porch CAFÉ had another great showing. The weather, camaraderie, leaning and even a few HF contacts made the QRP perfect.  The QRP Team once again has created another QRP. To all who had a role, as my former boss used to say “MA”; Col. Bell always acknowledged “Mission Accomplished”.

The QRP team has already started planning next month’s event so stay tuned for information.

The LWRA meeting this month will be our “hands on” meeting for the quarter, I am excited to be a part of this opportunity to learn.  Our topic will be “Passing Traffic”. I will send out next Monday ARRL form for traffic. The general beginner traffic format will be practiced with participants actually passing traffic to hams that we have arranged to take you traffic from the class.
