LWRA Ham Bytes – Week of 8/10/26

The LWRA Monday HAM BYTES! School is back this week so many of you are getting kids, or yourselves ready for the school year. This is again in the education service and its ancillary components . A huge thank you for what you do!

This is meeting week for the LWRA we will have a great program with Russ N4RTD with update and what the future looks like for Field Day ’27 and a report about FD’26. Also, we may have another segment of the program that has not yet been confirmed.

A link (or use the same link as the previous meeting) will be sent as a reminder on Thursday.
Our QRP for the month has been finalized, so make sure you see the note QRP section.

Repeater updates:
The UHF machine is on the Vertex 7000 (operating at 25 watts from the duplexer. This is a straight up analog repeater with 127.3 on TX and RX. The Yaesu has been disconnected and the amp removed from the shack for repair. Thanks to Dan W5DBH for checking this out. We will let you know when is back dual mode C4FM and analog.

Several of you bought the ICOM 6330D NXDN radio on close out. A great radio deal. If you need assistance regarding the CPS or cable program, please let me know. If you did buy one, and need your NXDN ID, go to www.radioid.net for that number.

We will enjoy the Net this week, KU8Q John. We would love to have you join us LWRA UHF machine 442.425Mhz +5MHz offset with 127.3 on both TX and RX. The net is conducted in the analog mode starting at 730PM followed by the ‘round table’ for the LWRA repeater.

QRP- our QRP will be on the 29th of this month at Crystal Lake Park in Lake Wales. The QRP will be all about “homemade antennas” so if you have an antenna for anything from CB to GMRS evening short wave or general monitoring bring that puppy out and set ‘er up. We start at 9 (or earlier) until 12 noon, The we will have a hot dog together for lunch. It’s warm out there so bring a drink to stay hydrated and join us. 205 N 5th Street Lake Wales.

HERE”S THE CONNECTION REMINDER!
The FLAVOR of the week is DMR on the PSBTG 3195162 which is readily available on all Polk W4VCO repeaters as well as Brand Meister.

Of course, other talk groups are also available if you need them including FLORIDA STATEWIDE 3112.
The TOPPING for the week is analog WC4PEM . This wonderful, linked repeater system also has ECHOLINK availability.

I hope to hear from you on this if possible.

We still net a few net controllers for our GMRS associated nets. Third or fourth week on Bartow and W5DBH’s repeater in Haines City.

Dan’s W5DBH Haines City Net on Fridays 462.55 127.3 he needs subs and controllers for his 7 PM Friday net.

I need a third- or fourth-week controller for the Polk GMRS net for Tuesday at 7PM each week. 462.725 141.3. Also, standby subs for all three nets would be great. Let me know about any 863-412-2467
